Tennis expert criticizes wrongdoer: “What happened to him?” – tennis

Paolo Bertolucci is actually a huge fan of Jannik Sinner. Just a few months ago he compared him to a young Roger Federer. But after Friday’s bitter exit in Schertogenbosch, the former tennis player sharply criticized the South Tyrol national team.

Bertolucci is a familiar face in Italy. The former professional tennis player and former captain of the Italian Davis Cup team continues to comment on current events on the World Tour and works as a TV expert. So far he’s had nothing but good things to say about Jannik Sinner. Back in the spring (after beating Andrei Rublev in Miami), Bertolucci told Gazzetta dello Sport: “Jannik Sinner will give us a lot of pleasure. It seems easy to achieve victories over strong opponents – this is the quality of great heroes.

The quarter-final in s’Hertogenbosch against Finland’s Emil Ruusuvuori, against whom Sinner had won all matches on the ATP Tour up to that point, apparently made Bertolucci change his mind. The 71-year-old made a post on social media harshly criticizing Sener. “What happened to Jannik Sinner? Slow, he doesn’t follow the rules and he’s confused. He seems completely off the track.”

Sinner has a disappointing third championship behind him after failing to impress in Rome and Paris (Roland Garros). Sinner has not suspended himself after the end of the ATP 250 Championships in the Netherlands.
