Former US President Bill Clinton has been admitted to the intensive care unit of a hospital due to a urinary tract infection. The infection seems to have spread throughout the body.
The 75-year-old already wrote on Twitter that his spokesman was “in good spirits and is incredibly grateful to the doctors, nurses and staff who treated him well.” Clinton was taken to the Irvine Medical Center at the University of California. According to CNN, the doctors who examined him wrote, “We hope he will go home soon.”
Clinton is said to be in intensive care for privacy and security reasons, not because she needs intensive care, it said. On Tuesday, CNN quoted his office as saying he felt bad at a private event hosted by his foundation in California. He was later taken to the hospital for examination.
Heart problems
The former president has already been treated frequently for health problems: he had four bypass surgeries in 2004 and two stents fitted in 2010 to open the artery. His doctors have now insisted that his stay in the hospital is not related to the heart or Govt-19. His spokesman tweeted that the infection was not related to Govt-19.
Democrat Clinton was President of the United States from 1993 to 2001. He married Hillary Clinton, who was Secretary of State under Barack Obama, who ran for Democrat in the 2016 presidential election, but was defeated by Donald Trump at the time.
