USA launches investigation into Tesla auto pilot

There are officers around the neck of electric car manufacturer Tesla. After several accidents involving Tesla, the US government launched a formal investigation. The focus is on the automated pilot of the semi-automatic driving system.

According to the DPA, officials announced on their website that they were having trouble recognizing other cars parked there. Eleven accidents have been identified in which the autopilot did not work properly.

765,000 vehicles have been affected by the investigation. That’s all Tesla has sold in the US since 2014. The full range of models is explored, i.e. models S, 3, X and Y.
