Chinese President Xi Jinping described the relationship with the United States as important for all of humanity during a meeting with American leader Chuck Schumer. “How China and the United States get along in a world of change and turmoil will determine the future and destiny of humanity,” Xi said today during his meeting with the leader of the Democratic Majority in the US Senate.

“I have said many times, including in front of many presidents, that we have a thousand reasons to improve China-US relations, but not a single reason to destroy them,” Xi added during the meeting held in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. . The relationship between Beijing and Washington is considered “the most important bilateral relationship in the world.”
“Together, our countries will shape this century,” Schumer said. “That’s why we have to build our relationship responsibly and respectfully.”
Schumer heads a bipartisan delegation of US Senators that traveled on Saturday first to the Chinese economic city of Shanghai and then to the capital, Beijing. Before meeting with Xi, the delegation had already met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Monday.
