“I have said many times, including in front of many presidents, that we have a thousand reasons to improve China-US relations, but not a single reason to destroy them,” Xi added during the meeting held in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. . “Together, our countries will shape this century,” Schumer said. “That’s why we have to build our relationship responsibly and respectfully.”
Schumer heads a bipartisan delegation of US Senators that traveled on Saturday first to the Chinese economic city of Shanghai and then to the capital, Beijing. Before meeting with Xi, the delegation had already met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Monday.
