QUITO/MEXICO CITY – After Ecuadorian security forces stormed the Mexican Embassy in Quito to arrest former Vice President Jorge Glas, international pressure mounted on the Ecuadorian government. UN Secretary-General António Guterres expressed his “concern” over the incident in Quito, it was reported in New York at the weekend. Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Peru and Venezuela also expressed their criticism. After Mexico, Nicaragua also severed ties with Ecuador.
