Fate/EXTRA Record Launches Worldwide in January
Fate/EXTRA Record will be released for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam.
Physical editions will be offered for PS5, Switch 2 and the original Switch, with distribution handled by XSEED Games and Marvelous Europe.
The game will feature Japanese voice acting alongside subtitles in English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese.
For U.S. players, the standard console edition is priced at $59.99, except for the Switch 2 version at $69.99. The PC edition is priced at $59.99.
Standard, Limited and Digital Deluxe Editions Detailed
Three versions of Fate/EXTRA Record are available for preorder.
Standard Edition
The Standard Edition includes the base game and will be available both physically and digitally. It costs $59.99 on most supported platforms and $69.99 on Switch 2.
Limited Edition
The physical-only Limited Edition costs $89.99, rising to $99.99 for Switch 2.
In addition to the game, the package includes a three-disc original soundtrack containing 75 tracks. Music by Yoshimasa Terui and Keita Haga is joined by arranged tracks from the original Fate/EXTRA, with the discs packaged in a special SteelBook case.
Buyers will also receive a Material / Art and Concept Book featuring character artwork, dungeon illustrations and notes from the creators. The publisher cautions that the book contains significant story spoilers and recommends reading it only after completing the game.
Digital Deluxe Edition
The Digital Deluxe Edition is priced at $79.99 on consoles and PC.
It includes the base game, a Fate/EXTRA Arranged Background Music Pack and three special outfit packs: Beach Style, Night Style and Festival Style. A digital soundtrack and art book are also included.
Remake Revisits the Moon Holy Grail War
Fate/EXTRA Record reimagines the original Fate/EXTRA RPG with updated visuals and a redesigned strategic combat system.
The story centers on the Moon Holy Grail War, a deadly competition involving 128 Master-Servant pairs. The conflict takes place inside SE.RA.PH, an enormous digital world hidden on the moon, where participants fight for possession of the Holy Grail—an artifact said to be capable of granting any wish.
Players take the role of a Master and explore digital dungeons while developing their Servant’s abilities. Rival Masters and Servants appear throughout the journey, making intelligence gathering an important part of preparing for decisive battles.
Information Gathering and Deck Building Shape Combat
A major part of the gameplay involves discovering information about opponents. Players investigate rival Servants to uncover their True Names, potentially providing an advantage when facing them in battle.
Combat combines deck building with strategic command-based mechanics. Each contracted Servant has distinct abilities and characteristics, requiring players to adjust their decks and tactics for different opponents.
The remake also emphasizes faster presentation and elaborate skill animations while retaining the strategic foundation associated with the original game.
More Fate/EXTRA Record Gameplay Details on the Way
Aniplex is continuing its rollout of information ahead of launch with a “Showcase: Gameplay and Latest Updates” presentation, offering additional details about the remake.
The publisher has also released a new release-date trailer and additional screenshots, giving players a closer look at the redesigned environments, characters and combat.
With versions planned across PlayStation, Nintendo and PC platforms, Fate/EXTRA Record is positioned to introduce the Moon Holy Grail War to a broader generation of players while offering longtime Fate fans a substantially updated take on the original RPG.
After years of anticipation, the remake now has a firm launch window: Fate/EXTRA Record arrives worldwide on January 28, 2027.
