There is still speculation about the new restaurants that the famous Michelin guide would have given stars in Austria if the whole country was taken into account. But for years, only Vienna and Salzburg were ranked in the Alpine country’s Red Book, despite repeated efforts to bring back the Michelin Guide Austria. Long story short, the new star pick is here. Nothing will change in restaurants awarded from one to three red macarons. Amador, the only 3-star restaurant in Austria since 2019, has managed to defend its position again. The two-star restaurants remained the same: Konstantin Filippou, Mraz & Son, Silvio Nicole and Sterek in Vienna, as well as Icarus in Hangar-7 and Sense, Salzburg is still in play.
MAST you get a Green Star
Of the remaining eight one-star restaurants, Tian in Vienna stands out as the only vegetarian restaurant in the republic. Since 2022, it has also been awarded the “Green Star”, which aims to highlight in particular sustainable concepts. A new green star goes to MAST Weinbistro.
Joining the restaurants featured under Bib Gourmands this year are Onyx and Specht, both new additions. Also new to the guide, albeit without a star, are Lola, Meissl & Schadn, Taste Temple, Herzig, Kivia, Trattoria Martinelli, Duchardt and Dining Room – Everybody’s Darling and the Mühlbacher in Salzburg.
