Bertelsmann Stiftung: Liz Mohn resigns on her 80th birthday | 06/21/21

GÜTERSLOH (dpa-AFX) – On her 80th birthday, Lise Mohn is leaving the Executive Board of Bertelsmann Stiftung on Monday. The Foundation announced this with reference to the applicable laws and the minimum age specified therein. According to the announcement, Liz Mohn will remain with the foundation as a global actress. She also remains an honorary member of the Board of Trustees.

The foundation declared “International understanding and economic issues with a focus on contemporary management and cultural projects – topics to which Lise Mohn has long been committed will be assembled in the future at the new Lise Mohn Center of the Bertelsmann Stiftung”. With her daughter Brigitte Mohn (56 years old), the family will continue to be represented on the foundation’s board of directors.

On June 11, Bertelsmann announced that Lise Mohn would hand over the position of family spokesperson in the Bertelsmann Verwaltungsgeschaft to her son Christoph Mohn (55). There she represented the interests of the shareholders of the Bertelsmann Foundation and the Family.

The institution was founded in 1977 and is family owned (about 20 percent) of the Bertelsmann Group. In 2020, more than 363 employees worked in the enterprise. Last year, 74 million euros poured into various projects.

With more than 132,000 employees worldwide, the Bertelsmann Group generated sales of about 17.3 billion euros in 2020.
