Dornbirn. As part of a long-term international partnership with Musikkollegium Winterthur and with the support of the Hilti Foundation, Iberacademy Medellín from Colombia will guest in Europe in June 2022 with concerts in Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Austria. This results in a unique opportunity to present this band as a private concert at the Kulturhaus Dornbirn on June 14. “Since 2011, the Iberacademy Music Program in Medellin has had a dual goal: to make high-quality music education accessible to young Latin Americans from all walks of life and at the same time enable the most talented of them to pursue a career in music performance,” says City Councilor for Culture Dr. Alexander Gwen. “The concert special showcases the diversity of the subscription party series. We look forward to welcoming South American musicians to Dornbirn,” adds Mayor Dibble.-Vw. Andrea Kaufman. Party starts at 7:30 PM

Transferring knowledge to the next generation

All members of the orchestra are also teachers and pass on the knowledge they have acquired to the next generation as soon as possible. At the same time, the program is open to the widest possible audience and brings classical music from the concert hall to public places, from the capital to the provinces and from the music school to kindergartens, schools, hospitals, retirement homes and much more. In this way, this exceptional musical initiative also bears largely social responsibility. The orchestra is led by Colombian-born Alejandro Posada, and is the first conductor in his country’s history to be appointed principal conductor of a professional European orchestra, Spain’s Orquesta Sinfonic de Castilla y León.
