Mariahilfer Strasse: The world of Christmas nostalgia at Gerngross show

Creative agency Division 4 has enchanted Gerngross in a classic “Nutcracker” Christmas landscape. On Saturdays you can even see a ballerina in the shop window.

Vienna / New Building. Gerngross’ lavishly decorated shop window on Mariahilfer Strasse exudes nostalgic spirit this Christmas. A classic red, green and gold design has been retained, and this year it takes passers-by into the magical world of Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker”. Division 4 creative agency is responsible for the design.

Red stucco walls, room-high casement windows, an open fire, candelabras and crystal chandeliers are the setting for this year’s Gerngross show, which tells the classic Christmas story of a famous fairy tale. A locomotive runs around the Christmas tree, and of course there is a life-size nutcracker. The products on display are served on oversized nuts, the mouse ballet shows off the clothes, and the shop itself is covered in snow in a giant snow globe.

Christmas feeling and bright eyes

“After the past few years of unusual Christmas settings like Ice World, Candy Land or Factory, we wanted to make the eyes of passersby light up with classic nostalgic elements,” says Division 4 Managing Director. Alexander Zubek. Children and those who still want to remember should be inspired.

The Nutcracker laughs at the show.

And for all those who really want to get in the Christmas feeling: On Saturday, December 3rd in the afternoon from 3pm, you’ll see a ballerina live in the shop window – accompanied by gospel singers.
