Max Hollin He will expand his responsibilities at the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art. As the house has now announced, the 53-year-old, who previously served as museum director in Frankfurt am Main and San Francisco, among other places, will take over as managing director in July 2023. This means that in the future Austria will take full responsibility for one of the world’s largest museums in the world.
Hollein follows Met President and CEO Daniel H. Weiss, who recently announced that he plans to retire in June 2023. Candice K. Beneke, the museum’s board of directors, told the New York Times that Hollein’s great work in the past prompted her to take the step. With this decision, the house returns to a unified administrative structure that existed until 2017.
