At the same time, the junk mail folder remained empty for those affected. The problem occurred in both the desktop and mobile applications of Outlook. the Several report people on twitterbut especially in the Microsoft support forum. There are hundreds of posts by non-fanatic Outlook users in various threads. However, not all accounts appear to have been affected.
After Microsoft did not initially comment, the company acknowledged the issue yesterday evening It’s still on the Outlook status page: “Users may have received spam and phishing emails in their inboxes.” The cause is said to have been resolved in the meantime, even if members of the Microsoft support forum continue to report individual junk emails being incorrectly allowed through.
