Monaco royals: Prince Albert and his sister are coming to Vienna on Sunday

Royal visitors come to the Vienna State Opera: Prince Albert II and his sister Princess Caroline of Hanover are due to come to Austria on Sunday. There is no official announcement, but “Today” reports that the two are coming to the capital.

Reason: On July 3, 5 and 7, the performances of “Il turco in Italia” will take place, and on July 8 there will also be a gala concert, where Placido Domingo and Rolando Villazon will also appear. They will be arriving for the Turco premiere. It is still unclear if they will stay overnight or leave after the performance. It is not an official state visit, but a purely private one. A portion of the proceeds from the ceremony will go to AMADE (Association Mondiale des amis de l’enfance), a foundation for the benefit of disadvantaged children around the world. Caroline is also the president of this organization.

Guest performance by the new artistic director of the Monte Carlo Opera

Cecilia Bartoli has been giving a guest show in Vienna since June 28. The piece “Rossiminania” from “The Queen of the Opera” under the auspices of Albert II was also dedicated to the orchestra (“Les musiciens du Prinze”) to him.

The guest performance bears its name in honor of the composer Gioacchino Rossini, who cast a spell on Vienna 200 years ago. It is also the first time that Bartoli sings at the Vienna Opera. The brilliant start with “La Cenerentola” at the end of June was successful: 30 minutes of applause and three times.

Bartoli will also direct the Monte Carlo Opera from next season, that is, starting in the fall. When the Monegasque Royals visit Vienna, Albert’s wife Charlene, who frequently suffers from health problems, will not be around.
