Under the motto “We do a lot of forestry”, it draws attention to the complex value chain of wood in sustainable forest management. As reported by the Agricultural Information Center, publishing company Mayr-Melnhof Holz Holding, wooden toy manufacturer Matador, and poultry fast food chain KFC have won as partners in the project. Customers of the three companies are informed of the company’s contribution to sustainable forest management via posters and informational materials when purchasing PEFC-certified products – such as pellets, fast food packaging or toys. Interested parties can also watch three videos specially created via QR codes, in which the many steps from the tree to the final product are explained.
“Anyone who chooses products bearing the PEFC seal secures forests and local jobs for the future,” emphasized Valentina Kirnbauer-Schneider, Vice-Chairman of PEFC Austria during the campaign presentation.
