Fassbender plays a CIA agent who returns to headquarters after a long-term secret mission. There he faces a former love affair and dangerous new tasks. The film will be directed by British director Joe Wright (Pride and Prejudice, The Darkest Hour). The screenplay comes from writing duo Jez and John Henry Butterworth (“Edge of Tomorrow,” “Indiana Jones and the Wheel of Destiny”).
Clooney and producing partner Grant Heslov serve as producers through their company Smokehouse Pictures. The duo has previously produced films such as “Argo,” “August in Osage County” and “Monuments Men – Unusual Heroes.” Fassbender, born in Heidelberg to a German father and Irish mother, was last seen in the thriller “The Killer” and in the sports comedy “Next Goal Wins.”
