RTL deepens its partnership with Vodafone

Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland is moving forward with its live broadcasting strategy and deepening its partnership with Vodafone.

The goal is to make RTL content in the broadcast and television industries available to more than 13 million Vodafone TV customers, the two companies announced. Customers should be able to access content more easily and better than before: for example, the previous RTL bandwidth on GigaTV as Vodafone’s TV and entertainment platform will be increased and will be available in the local media library over a longer period of time. The group of stations will also be consolidated in Vodafone’s cable network across Germany. The premium streaming offering should also be offered as an app on the platform from 2022.

It was recently announced that streaming platform RTL TVnow already has over 2 million paying subscribers. The platform name will be changed to RTL+ in the future. RTL also attributes the fact that the number of subscriptions increased by about 120 percent compared to the previous year to a strategic partnership with Deutsche Telekom. There the cooperation between the two companies went even further, as premium TV content payable to Telekom Magenta customers was integrated into some tariff models. In the spring, it was also announced that RTL is also collaborating with Sky Deutschland. Access to RTL content and shows on Sky platforms will also be facilitated.
