Weidhoven. The finals of the 2022 UTC Waidhofen Club Championship were held this past weekend.
26 participants managed to qualify for the finals throughout the summer. Due to illness, defending champion Andreas Trinko had to cancel his participation in the men’s event. In the women’s category, defending champion Katarina Lamac was able to secure the title once again. After sovereign success in the semi-finals against Andrea Weissenbock, the final was also a clear one for Lamac. With 6:4 and 6:2 she retained control of top seed Caroline Romer and managed to win 4 Club Championship titles.

In the men’s category, Stefan Steinmetz was able to beat Bernard Jank 6:0, 5:7 and 7:5 after hard work in the semi-finals, and thus reached the final against Philippe Doer, who was defeated in his 6:0 and 6:1 Semi-final success Sebastien Neubur hasn’t had much difficulty in moving on. In the final, Steinmetz was able to muster his entire class, which can also be admired during the team championship season, and triumphed over the role with 6:2 and 6:2. For El-Haggar, this victory in the final means the tenth title of the championship for clubs in Waidhofen , making him the most successful UTC Waidhofen/Thaya title holder to date.
