Cross-album fundraiser: planned memorial to Ludwig Hirsch

Hirsch grew up in Leopoldstadt and spent much of his childhood playing soccer in the aforementioned green spaces. Accordingly, the cover of the record “Der Hirsch im Beserlpark”, designed by Italian sculptor Davide Dormino, who is also set to make the sculpture, shows the striped statue and a boy with a soccer ball.

The song was chosen in close collaboration with Hirsch’s wife Cornelia Kondgen and singer-songwriter Jonny Bertel’s musical partner. Each song has a personal story or memory in the detailed notes. The multi-page booklet, attached to the gatefold cover, contains, among other things, Hirsch’s photographs from private archives that have never been seen before.

The very personal collection will be released on colored vinyl for €47.99 on September 15th and is only available online (shop.universalmusic.at). The date was deliberately chosen: 45 years ago, Ludwig Hirsch presented his debut album “Dunkelgraue Lieder” in the ORF broadcasting room. It was confirmed that if the statue could not be realized for unforeseen reasons, ten euros for each copy sold would be donated to a charitable organization in the spirit of Hirsch.
