Beloved of Strasbourg: artist talks with sculptor Alexandre Candot

The cultural landscape of Gurktal is to be realized in the region and beyond through the collaboration of the cultural institutions of Jurktal.

Strasbourg, German handles. Thanks to this initiative, the Deutsch-Griffen Local History Museum and the Castle in Strasbourg work together. Artist Alexandre Kandot and museum director Daphne Gerzabek will present a small-scale work for the special exhibition in miniatures on Friday, July 14th at 3pm at the Museum of Local History. This will be followed by a series of seven one-hour listening sessions, in which an artist will speak in front of an audience, in the exhibition rooms of Strasbourg Castle from 5pm to 6pm.

A well-established artistic venue

The first artists’ talk at Strasbourg Castle is titled “From Sparks to Form – From Metaneua to Done Unwillingly”. For more than three decades, artworks by Carinthian and Austrian artists have been exhibited in the exhibition rooms of the Strasbourg Castle precinct, renovated in the 1980s, covering nearly 400 square metres. Kiki Kugelnik, Maria Lassing, Ernst Fuchs and Ulrich Pleichnig from Strasbourg – to name a few – have filled the castle with life over the years.

Kando artist

This year the sculptor Alexandre Kandot presents a cross-section of his 20-year creative phase in Carinthia with 30 selected bands and many drawings and posters. Kendot studied with Bruno Gironcoli in Vienna and theology in Salzburg. His preoccupation with the works of Mark Rothock and the philosophy of Martin Buber, Rudolf Steiner and Otto Antonia Graf found echoes in Kandot’s work.
