who – which 32nd Film Festival in Vienna City Hall Square, which will take place from July 2 to September 4 this year, begins with the presentation of an instrumental concert in Ukraine. The event at Vienna’s Ernst Abel Stadium in March brought together local pop greats such as Bilderbuch, Wanda, Zeiler and Speer. Throughout the summer, there is music notable from the opera, classical, pop and rock areas.
“For more than three decades, the film festival has provided so much joy and great emotions at Vienna’s Rathausplatz,” Mayor Michael Ludwig was quoted as saying in Wednesday’s broadcast. “I am convinced that many people will come to Ratosplatz again. We all hope for beautiful summer evenings in a great setting.”

There is a reunion with the recently deceased Willie Reciters who is known as Ostban-Kurti. She added that with the “Be A Mensch” concert from 2008 “the artist’s exceptional work is being honored”. Falco, who was going to celebrate his 65th birthday this year, is also on the programme. There are also concert films by greats like the Rolling Stones, U2, Coldplay, or David Bowie.
New is a collaboration with the Vienna State Opera, which makes it possible to enjoy ten of the House’s productions on Ratusplatz – including classics such as Mozart’s “Don Giovanni”, Strauss’ operetta “Di Flidermaus” or the contemporary dance piece “Beer Gent”. All this is complemented by a comprehensive culinary presentation. Entry to the film festival is free.
