Founded in 1923, ASV has developed over the decades into one of the most traditional sports clubs in the city and in Carinthia. Originally the club consisted of different sections, including football, handball, ice hockey, asphalt shooting and rowing. The home of ASV is the Annabichl Sports Stadium on Ehrenthalerstrasse. ASV attaches great importance to the successful work of youth and integrates talented young players into their combat team. One of the most notable events in the club’s history is the promotion to the Regional League, the third highest league in Austria, after winning the championship title in the Carinthian League in the 2014/2015 season.
For their many years of commitment, Johann Dörfer and Hans Holzer received a certificate of appreciation from the state capital at the ceremony.
Johann Dorfer, born in 1954, has been an active ASV player since 1960 and has held various official positions at the club over the years. He has been chief treasurer since 2018 and played a crucial role in the financial rescue and restructuring of the club following his stint in the District League and Kärntnerliga. With more than 40 years of volunteer work in grassroots sports in Klagenfurt, he is a respected figure and a useful representative of the public good.
Hans Holzer, born in 1950, began his official career at ASV in 1979 after having previously been active as a player. He held various leadership positions, including department leader and president. Under his leadership, ASV became champions of the Carinthian League in 2014/15 and were promoted to the regional league. In 2018, he stepped down as president and was given the honorary presidency of the association in recognition of his lifelong commitment.
