I love Alt-J grand piano in Studio 2
Now every Saturday from 4pm: FM4 sessions
Every Saturday from 4-5pm is the time for FM4 sessions. Austrian and international musicians have been playing exclusive sessions in FM4 studios for many years. Everything is possible, from intimate vocal performances to grand operas in collaboration with RSO Vienna in the great broadcasting hall. Saturday is now set to be the date of the best sessions we’re currently recording, along with the best cuts from the vast archive that FM4 has created over the years.
“An Awesome Wave” was the title of the first album of 2012 alternative y, a band that had a totally unique sound right from the start that instantly won the famous Mercury Award for Best British Album of the Year with their fantastic waves. As we know, Alt-J’s Joe, Gus and Thom have become one of the most popular indie pop bands in the world.
We were all even happier when they recorded a session in our FM4 studio in February 2018, before their concert at Wiener Stadthalle. The synthesizer, guitar and drums were built in Studio 2 in the Funkhaus in Vienna, and of course a beautiful grand piano was also used on site. over here FM4 colleague Susie Ondroshova picked up her impressions of visiting Alt-J at the time.
We dedicate the second part of our Saturday FM4 sessions to Avec
It was fall 2015 when a young musician walked in through the door of our studio. Her first single “Granny” was with her, and even then, in her first vocal session on FM4, she was the great living talent. Avic.
A lot has happened in the life of Upper Austria since then. She has released three albums and has over 60 million streams under her belt. It was nominated for the Amadeus Award in various categories and won the Music Moves Europa Award for Emerging Singers and Songwriters at the Eurosonic Festival. Then she also performed in countless concerts and was on tour with pop star James Blunt, among others. In between, Avec continued to visit us in the FM4 studio and recorded several FM4 sessions in this vein. You can see her in the video around spring 2020, at the start of the pandemic, with her band in Studio 2.
