Report: Palace did not order Harry Meghan documentary

Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan reportedly did not ask the royal family for a statement regarding the Netflix documentary about their relationship and separation from the royal family. The British news agency PA reported this today, citing royal circles, a few hours after the release of the first episodes of the multi-part documentary series.

In the documentary, the couple tell their story in detail, and are highly critical of the British tabloid press in particular. She added that neither Buckingham Palace nor Kensington Palace – the residence of Prince William and his wife Kate – or members of the royal family were asked.

Schrödinger’s request

This is contradicted by a note written immediately at the beginning of the documentary, which indicates that such requests were made in the course of creating the series. “Members of the royal family have declined to comment on the content of this series,” it said in white letters on a black background.

The documentary series is seen as a renewed insult to the royal family and was roundly condemned by the British tabloid press even before it was broadcast.
