Prince Harry hails the Queen as ‘The Compass’

The 37-year-old has pledged the support of his father, the new King Charles III. The relationship between Harry and his father and brother, Prince William, is burdensome. Harry’s announcement of honoring Charles in his new role could mean a gesture of peace. The new king also publicly expressed his affection for Harry and his wife Meghan in his first televised address on Friday night.

The last farewell saddened him, Harry wrote directly to his “grandmother”. At the same time, he is grateful for their encounters—”from my early childhood memories with you to my first encounter with you as my supreme leader to the first moment when I met my wonderful wife and hugged your beloved great-grandchildren.” Harry asserted, “I cherish those times I shared with you and all the other special moments in between.”

The Duke of Sussex, as his official title, ended his message with: “Thank you for your dedication to service. Thank you for your sound advice. Thank you for your infectious smile. We are smiling too, for we know you and your grandfather are now meeting in peace.” Prince Philip, the Queen’s husband, died in April 2021 at the age of 99.

Harry lives in California with his wife, Duchess Meghan, and their children Archie (3) and Lilipt (1), who is named after the Queen. The couple happened to be in the UK when the Queen died in Scotland on Thursday. Harry and Meghan have abandoned their royal duties and have repeatedly criticized the palace. However, the Queen has always explicitly excluded them from the allegations.
